What is the difference between engineered wood moulding and solid wood moulding ?

How to distinguish between engineered wood moulding and solid wood moulding? Just need two ways as below.
1. Look at the weight: engineered wood moulding is light in the hand, but solid wood moulding is easy to feel its weight in the hand.
2. Look at the texture and color: engineered wood mouldings’ texture is more clear and straight. Each moulding’s color is almost the same, and the surface is relatively smooth, not rough. The solid wood moulding is natural, so the color and texture from top to end are not the same, certainly there will be some discoloration, but it is very natural color and texture. It is more good-looking than engineered wood moulding.
