How to Choose Wood Flooring? Don't Overthink It!

I've done a lot of research online and compiled a list of differences between several common types of wood flooring. I hope this helps those confused about DIY wood flooring!
**Solid Wood Flooring (18mm Thick):** Cut from a single piece of wood, it boasts a high-quality look and feel—a classic style. However, it's relatively expensive and quite delicate, requiring regular maintenance. It's susceptible to moisture and direct sunlight, making it suitable for those with a sufficient budget and the patience to maintain it. Not for lazy people like me.
**Composite Wood Flooring:** Multi-layered wood substrate with a solid wood veneer on the surface. It balances aesthetics and practicality, is easier to maintain than solid wood flooring, and has a reasonable price, offering good value.
**New Three-Layer Solid Wood Flooring (12-15mm Thick):** This is the most common type on the market. It's actually a type of engineered wood flooring, but despite the name, it actually has five layers. The core solid wood substrate is relatively thick, and the surface has a reinforced layer, making it wear-resistant and durable. It doesn't require much maintenance and offers good value.
SPC flooring (4-6mm thick): Made of stone powder and high-polymer PVC, it's inexpensive but has average stability, a hard texture, and is more for show than practical use. It's prone to problems later on and is more suitable for temporary rental properties; not recommended for owner-occupancy.
Laminate flooring: Made of wood chips pressed under high temperature and pressure, it has high density and is the cheapest option. It's also quite wear-resistant, but feels hard underfoot and lacks the warmth of solid wood. Suitable for those seeking the best value and who don't mind a certain feel underfoot.
