To distinguish whether furniture is veneered, pay attention to these points‼ ️

According to regulations, furniture with more than 70% solid wood content can be called solid wood furniture, so when asking, be precise: Is the frame solid wood? Are the frame and the main material solid wood? Is there no veneered artificial board at all?

If the merchant dares to guarantee that the frame and the main material are solid wood, it is best for us to ask for it to be written in the contract. If the merchant agrees, it is basically trustworthy. Even if we are cheated in the end, we can still defend our rights and will not suffer losses.

Without further ado, here are some suggestions for distinguishing solid wood furniture from veneer!

Pay attention to the wood grain and color of the furniture

Especially check whether the wood grain and color of the edge and surface of the furniture are consistent, and whether the texture is continuous. If it is veneered furniture, there will be color difference at the edge, and the wood grain has almost no extension, showing a fault style.

Pay attention to whether the expansion joints are more obvious than they appear

Some solid wood furniture will paint the expansion joints very black to cover up the inconsistency between the inside and outside colors of the wood. In fact, we can see from mahogany furniture that real expansion joints are generally not filled with paint to change the color, but to show the original color.

Pay attention to the hidden details of the furniture

Pull out the drawer and look at the front and back of the bottom plate, or open the wardrobe and look at the front and back of the back plate. If the textures on the front and back are the same, it means that they are two sections of the same board. If the textures are completely different, it is veneer.

Pay attention to the neatness of the texture

The patterns of veneers are generally very neat, without any breaks, and even the same texture will appear. The patterns of solid wood are usually not too complete and are more casual.

Pay attention to the hardware connection

From the unsealed and painted parts such as the door hinge grooves and wire groove holes, you can clearly see the type and structure of the base material used for the board. Some furniture does not have hardware, so look at the holes such as mortise and tenon joints.

Another thing to note is that many friends who have been cheated will report that the products they saw in the store are completely different from the products delivered to their homes. Maybe they saw solid wood in the store, but the products delivered later were veneered, so you should check carefully after they are delivered to your home!

It should also be clearly marked when signing the contract. If conditions permit, you can go to the furniture factory to have a look, which will make you feel more at ease.
