Stop relying on color swatches to choose wood veneer! That’s the cause of 90% of renovation disasters. ✨

In my years of working with wood veneer, I’ve seen so many homeowners place orders based solely on online photos or small color swatches.
Once installed, the color and grain don't match expectations—and by then, it’s too late for regrets. 😭
Even when labeled "Black Walnut" or "Oak," the actual material can vary drastically.
Color swatches are too small, and lighting conditions change everything; the final look is often worlds apart from the sample.
✅ Here is some practical advice for choosing wood veneer:
▪️ Always get a large sample! Don't rely on tiny color swatches.
Take it home and view it under both natural daylight and artificial evening lighting.
▪️ Embrace the natural imperfections.
Mineral streaks and slight color variations are inherent to the wood—that’s part of the unique charm of natural veneer.
▪️ Don't skimp on thickness.
For home cabinetry and wall paneling, opt for a thickness of at least 0.5mm; it offers better stability and is less prone to warping or cracking.
▪️ The grain pattern matters.
Straight grain offers a clean, crisp look, while cathedral grain (crown cut) creates a rich, atmospheric feel. Confirm the grain layout with the manufacturer beforehand.
▪️ Printed wood patterns—no matter how beautiful—cannot replicate the depth and dimension of natural veneer under changing light.
If you want a sophisticated, warm atmosphere at home, choosing the right veneer makes all the difference.
Renovation isn't about spending the most money; what matters most is finding what suits your home's specific lighting and layout.
