1 What is FAS grade wood?
FAS grade refers to the highest level in the wood quality classification, representing the best quality wood. FAS grade wood is screened and evaluated, and only wood with high consistency and uniform texture can reach this level;
FAS grade North American black walnut, with its solid performance and beautiful appearance, is widely used in the production of high-end furniture. It can not only be used daily, but also add a sense of luxury and natural beauty to furniture.
2 NHLA authoritative certification grade
There are many woods on the market. In order to use wood more reasonably and efficiently, NHLA (National Hardwood Lumber Association) was established and formulated the hardwood grades exported from the United States, among which FAS is the highest grade, and hardwood exported from North America follows this standard.
3Hardwood grades are divided into five categories, from high to low quality:
FAS grade-----Clear surface 83.3 or more, few defects, used for high-grade furniture
FAS grade single-sided-----one side reaches FAS grade, the back reaches general grade one
General grade one-----Clear surface 66.6% or more, medium quality, used for standard furniture
General grade two-----Clear surface 50% or more, suitable for furniture parts, floor strips
General grade three-----Clear surface 33.3% or more, mainly used for industry
*Clear surface: refers to a board without defects.
4FAS grade and non-FAS grade wood comparison
FAS grade North American black walnut furniture has few defects and beautiful texture, but if other grades of wood are used as FAS grade, the color difference is relatively large, and color correction is usually done. The overall color is easy to turn black and red, losing the original color, resulting in a lack of texture and more defects.
5Is there a better SUP grade on the market than FAS grade?
SUP grade is a grade name that some wood suppliers or manufacturers customize by selecting wood according to the FAS grade standard. All North American boards must follow the NHLA grading rules, and other grade ratings are not recognized by the authority.
