For whole-house custom cabinetry, the board material is the very soul of the project! Choose the wrong one, and you risk excessive formaldehyde levels, moisture-induced warping, and cabinet doors that won't close properly... leading to nothing but regrets once you move in. 😭

1️⃣ **Particleboard**
🔹 **Pros:** Excellent stability, highly resistant to warping, strong screw-holding capacity, and great value for money. It is the mainstream material of choice for major cabinetry brands.
🔸 **Cons:** Moisture resistance is only average (though the manufacturing processes used by large-scale factories make it perfectly adequate for most uses); its environmental safety rating depends entirely on the quality of the adhesive used.
✅ **Best For:** Cabinet carcasses (bodies) and cabinet doors (for "floor-to-ceiling" doors, it is recommended to install a door straightener/stabilizer).

2️⃣ **OSB (Oriented Strand Board)**
🔹 **Pros:** The absolute top choice for "floor-to-ceiling" doors! It is manufactured by compressing large, oriented wood strands using MDI adhesive, resulting in extreme structural stability, exceptional resistance to warping, good moisture resistance, and superior screw-holding capacity.
🔸 **Cons:** The surface texture is relatively rough, and the price is higher than that of standard particleboard.

⚠️ 3 Key Pitfalls to Avoid

1️⃣ Judge eco-friendliness by grade, not by name: Regardless of the board type, always look for ENF-grade (the highest level under the new national standard) or F4-star certification. Low-quality "solid wood" products can actually be more toxic than high-quality particleboard!

2️⃣ Edge banding is even more critical than the board itself: Laser Edge Banding > PUR Edge Banding > EVA Hot-Melt Banding. If the edge banding is poor, formaldehyde will leak out—no matter how high-quality the board material is.

3️⃣ Don't be misled by the term "Solid Wood": What many vendors market as "Solid Wood" is actually "Solid Wood Plywood" (multi-layer) or "Solid Wood Particleboard." Clarify the actual composition before placing your order!
